The Outsiders

Presented By Allen HS Theatre Department

About this event

During the 1960s, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the town was divided into two parts, the West side side which belonged to the Socs, (Socialites) and the East side which belonged to the Greasers. When the two sides get into a brawl that ends in the death of a Social member, the boys are forced to go into hiding. Some Greasers must content with the consequences of their violent lives while others try to achieve redemption. The Outsiders is a play adapted by Christopher Sergel from the book by S.E. Hinton. None of the events are taken from life, but the rest—how kids think and live and feel—is for real. This is a play about young people who are not yet hopeless about latent decency in the midst of struggle.
