Duruflé: Requiem
Presented By Allen Philharmonic Orchestra
About this event
Join us for one of the most sublime works in the choral repertoire: the Requiem Mass by Maurice Duruflé. Aesthetically based in Gregorian chant, the mass is a work of peace and calm, advocating a message of consolation and acceptance. We'll be joined by our own Symphony Chorus, as well as several guest choral organizations.
The second half of the program makes a sharp contrast, presenting three special works for string orchestra. The half will open with Samuel Akpabot's charming and unique "Three Nigerian Dances for Strings and Timpani." Then, we'll present one of the absolute gems of the string repertoire, Edward Elgar's masterpiece "Serenade for Strings."
The evening will end with Michael Markowski's sparkling, jazz-influenced barn burner, "Finding the Words."
Don't miss this outstanding evening of music you won't hear anywhere else!
